Nufront Smartbook with the Dual Core Cortex A9

This 10 inch Smartbook is powered by a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 running at 2GHz, and sporting an Ubuntu operating system. We are unsure if it is going to have 1 or 2GB of RAM. Other specs include HDMI, VGA, two USB 2.0, and an SD card. We are most curious about the lengthy battery capability and can’t wait to test it out. The system seems to sport very decent build quality and the thinness that makes smartbooks attractive. In an interesting move Nufront has loaded Canonical’s Ubuntu operating system on the device.

Back in September, Nufront and ARM announced the availability of the NuSmart 2816, a 40nm system-on-a-chip including a dual-core Cortex-A9 MPCore implementation at 2GHz. With the new system-on-a-chip, Nufront is targeting the ultra-thin laptop and all-in-one desktop markets, it said, as well as netbook and tablet markets.

We’re very excited to spend more time with these products to get a real sense of performance and battery life. For now we’ve got a hands on video to wet your whistle.

1GHz Samsung Cortex-A8 processor with Power VR SGX 540 GPU and 512MB of memory, the X7 having a 7-inch, 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen. This Android tablet has WiFi b/g/n, optional 3G HSPA or WiMAX or EVDO wireless conenctivity, Bluetooth and GPS, along with a rear 3-megapixel camera and a front 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls. There’s also HDMI, microUSB and a microSD card slot to augment the 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage. Sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light, and digital compass. The X7 has a 5,600 mAh battery, good Viliv says for up to 9.5hrs runtime, while the X10 has an 8,300 mAh battery, good for over 10hrs.

We still don’t know what version the tablet will be running it could be either 2.2 Froyo or Honeycomb; however, if rumors of Honeycomb being restricted to dual-core processors are true, that could force Viliv’s hand in the wrong direction.

Notion Ink Adam Hands on at CES 2011

What is fantastic and you’ll realize it as you watch the video, is that this tablet actually lives up to the hype. The screen technology in combination with the intelligent software and tegra actually work together. Talking to Rohan you can see that he’s crafted the tablet with love and you can see it in the details. The Adam has the curved top and ruggedized rubber with perforations, he comments that he designed the tablet for his own hand and he has sweaty hands. It makes sense that when you’re holding a device for a while, especially in a hot country like India

Below you’ll find our walk through and hands on video, give it a minute we at the beginning, we didn’t want you to miss out on any of the notion ink good times! Towards the end of the video you’ll find a nice animated hands on with the device by Sascha and JkkMobile.
