冰島南部艾雅法拉冰川下火山14號第二次爆發，冰川融解後引發洪水，迫使數百位居民必須撤離家園，火山灰嚴重影響飛航安全，歐洲30機場全面關閉，旅客滯留，航空業損失鉅大。




冰島艾雅法拉火山爆發！歐洲大混亂！


艾雅法拉山從三月二十號開始噴發出來的岩漿，直衝4000公尺的高空。還把冰河融出一道大約500公尺長的裂縫。沉寂了兩百年的艾雅法拉火山宣告復活，而且噴發的濃度越來越密，不到一個月，4月14號，艾雅法拉火山再度大爆發，濃煙跟蒸氣直竄天際達8000公尺，景象更驚人。


冰川之下有火山！？


火山的高溫已讓艾雅法拉冰川，部分面積開始融化，造成下游河川水位暴漲所幸沒有造成人員傷亡。冰島撤離超過800位居民。專家指出，這次的爆發威力，是上個月爆發的10到20倍，爆發產生的火山裂縫長達兩公里。




火山灰瀰漫！


火山爆發噴出的火山煙塵，在一萬公尺的高空形成壯觀的蕈狀雲，在強風吹襲之下，往西歐各國飄散。由於火山灰內含有礦石、玻璃和沙塵等微粒，對民航機相當具有嚴重殺傷力，全歐洲空中交通宣告大癱瘓，歐洲取消超過上萬架次的航班。

火山的噴發物(岩漿、火山灰…)會製造哪些問題？火山活動對自然環境和人類生活將產生哪些影響？



歐洲交通運輸受創情形？歐洲現況如何？民眾生活受損？民眾怎麼看待災害，會不會有2010的聯想？



機場、回不來怎麼辦？遇到這種事，遊客可以怎麼辦？哪裡可以幫忙？現在台灣困在歐洲的旅客怎麼辦？

Eyjafjallajökull has become a curse word in Europe as the Icelandic Volcano continues to delay flights across the Atlantic. The cloud of volcanic ash is creating havoc for travelers and European startups who can’t get anywhere. But entrepreneurs in London at least are coping with impromptu meetups.

CALL-IN 壯陽清血養顏？屠殺海洋生靈？ 如何養身又不戕害生態？


在藥妝通路熱銷的海豹、海狗油，富含Omega3被誇大具有保健、壯陽療效，使得台灣七年來總計間接殺害十二萬隻無辜的海豹、海狗。

動物保護團體呼籲，海豹油脂中含有高濃度的汞，食補反而可能傷身。


海豹屠殺情況！


全身毛茸茸的小海豹，無辜的表情特別惹人疼惜，不過才出生18天，卻要面臨人類殘忍的對待，獵捕工人拿著棍子打牠們的頭，甚至開槍後還要挨上好幾棍，小海豹不斷掙扎流血，將雪白的大地染紅，垂死前還痛苦顫抖著。保育團體保守估計，宰殺海豹海狗油取得油脂，七年來總共有43公噸輸入台灣，等於殺死12萬隻小生命。


國人為何酷愛海豹油海狗丸？


其實這些海狗油、海豹油，只是一般食品，卻被標榜含有Omega-3不飽和脂肪酸，能促進健康，甚至還被誇大、可以強化性功能，因此被衛生署處罰。清血壯陽！國人觀念不改，屠殺難免？非吃不可？

保育團體呼籲，這些動物體內，有的含有汞等重金屬殘留，吃了未必有益健康，但卻助長殘忍殺害動物的行為。


高級食材/藥材，取之無人道？


象徵年年有餘的魚翅，每到農曆過年，幾乎都是各大超商年菜食譜中、不可或缺的菜色，但這道菜的食材，取得的過程卻是相當的不人道。魚翅在台情況？不是禁補了嗎?為何到處都買得到？



另外一種也被保育團體希望訴諸國際禁令的，則是大西洋黑鮪魚的交易。鮪魚捕撈情形？根據統計，大西洋東岸跟地中海的黑鮪魚，因為過分濫捕數量已驟減75%，其中有八成的黑鮪魚都進口到日本。



吻仔魚：老人小兒的最好食物！然而，捕獲吻仔魚，可能破壞海洋生態？什麼是吻仔魚？吻仔魚對海洋生態的重要？反正吻仔魚長不大？



人類不吃這些魚，至少還可以從別的食物中補充營養，但是，面對生態保育和漁民生計兩項課題，這中間的矛盾又要如何解決。反黑鮪魚祭？漁民、地方經濟怎麼辦？

海洋生物鏈破壞情況？如何與海洋生態共存？


高級食材/藥材，多吃反而傷身？


到底怎樣吃才健康？重金屬傷身？越大隻重金屬含量越多？海狗海豹鮪魚鯊魚受重金屬污染的情形？珍貴食材藥材，難道都沒有其他替代品可用？



如何食不過量？避免因不當食補成為傷害台灣國際聲譽的共犯，愛護自己.尊重生命，地球的永續發展每一個人都有責任。

Socks that Sustain

What can we say about these simple, organic cotton socks? A lot.

These socks tell a story about their creator, Gina Locklear, who grew up among sock makers. Gina is following in the footsteps of her parents, who built a sock manufacturing company in Fort Payne, Alabama. Throughout most of the 20th century, the majority of socks made in the United States were produced in Fort Payne. Today, competition from overseas manufacturers threatens the remaining hosiery businesses in Gina’s hometown. But she’s bringing some life back into the local industry with a fresh approach to sock-making that incorporates Gina’s passion for ecologically sensible living and green business.



Gina founded Zkano in October. She does the designing and her parents’ company, called Emi-G Knitting, makes the socks (available in athletic crew, no show and heavy weight crew syles). Each pair is made from certified organic ring-spun cotton, grown without pesticides or chemicals, and finished without metal dyes. The name Zkano is derived from a Native American word that describes “a state of being good.” That sentiment perfectly captures Gina’s goal of creating products that are good for the environment and good for the people who wear them. Her socks cost a little more than socks manufactured overseas — because they’re worth it.
