Free Bike Lending Library
A student-led bike library opened Sept. 24 at the University of Denver (DU) offering high-tech bikes on loan for free, and a glimpse of the citywide bike sharing program that gets rolling next spring. The free DU lending library is open to all students, faculty and staff using the same bikes that will dot the city landscape in early 2010.

Today IBM (NYSE: IBM) opened a new data center designed to support new compute models like cloud computing, to help clients from around the world operate smarter businesses, organizations and cities. The new data center reduces technology infrastructure costs and complexity for clients while improving quality and speeding the deployment of services – using only half the energy required of a similar facility its size. The data center will ultimately total 100,000 square feet.

Solar-Powered Water Purifier
WWF has selected Solvatten, a solar-powered water purifier, as a 'Climate Solver', recognizing this Swedish invention's potential to reduce green-house gas emissions. Given the number of people worldwide currently treating their water by boiling with firewood, WWF estimates that, with widespread distribution, Solvatten could be reducing CO2 emissions by 26 million tonnes per year by 2020. The use of Solvatten can reduce dependence on firewood and other fuels, since it uses the sun's rays.
